Step 37: Summative Assessment: After Reading the Drama

Chose one of the following projects to complete in order to show your understanding of the drama.

Choice Project 1- Complete the web quest to gain a better understanding the role that choices lead to violent actions and the consequences the actions have on others.

Choice Project 2- Take on the persona of a person in the play. Construct an on-line diary or Blog from the point of view of one of the main characters (Juliet, Romeo, the Nurse, and Mercutio).

Step 38: Summative Assessment: Choose one of the following essays to write.

1. Write a persuasive essay using the following thesis: Romeo and Juliets age was the greatest contributing factor in their death. Support the thesis with evidence and examples from the play as well as the informational text on new brain research and its implications on teens and how they make decisions.

2. Write an expository essay posing the question raised in the play: Can long term feuds be ended? Research one or more modern-day feuds such as the famous Hatfield and McCoy feud answering this question.

Step 39: Summative Assessment-Reading Fluency and Comprehension Progress Monitoring Now that you have completed this unit, you will want to determine your reading fluency and comprehension. In order to do this, you will need to go to the Reading Comprehension Instructions Reading Comprehension Instructions.doc and follow the steps for determining if you have met the reading goals you set for yourself at the beginning of this unit. You will want to describe the progress you made in your Readers Notebook.
